The Raddest Girls on The Planet: @iamasadugger

Dear Rad Girl,

If you've been following my Diary (blog) over the past 5 years, you are familiar with this segment #theraddestgirlsontheplanet . In this series, I feature Rad Girls that are energetic, ambitious, fun, loving, uber talented, kind and artistic... I search all around social media for the raddest girls on the planet and I've came across some amazing girls I would love to share their stories with you. This December, end of 2020, what a year? We caught up with the ultimate rad girl, Asa Dugger!!!!!

Asa, you are a fearless woman on the move. We see you’re constantly setting goals and accomplishing them and inspiring many in the process. Please introduce yourself to us. (Ex. Hometown, Hobbies, Do you own pets... etc)

Hey y’all! I am Asa Dugger! I am a Content Creator, Influencer, and On-Camera Hosted based in Los Angeles! I love creating content on all things Lifestyle, Wellness and Beauty. You might’ve seen me on Hello Beautiful, The Real or in Essence magazine! I’m originally from Mt. Holly, NJ and outside of my work life I love to shop, brunch, go for adventures with beautiful views and meet new people! I don’t have any pets in Los Angeles, but at home on the East coast my parents and I have two cats, Popo and Béll!

You’re an On - Camera Host, Model, Entrepreneur, Influencer and more! Describe a day in the life of Asa? Every day varies but I usually wake up and start my day with my favorite gospel playlist and devotional. Afterwards, I do glam and worship to get dressed. Then I check my emails, join meetings and check off my to-do list! Other days when I need to be on-set, it’s more of a crazy morning that involves playing music, rushing to make my coffee + beat LA traffic and running off to hair and makeup on set!

You’ve relocated from NJ across the country to Los Angeles California. What brought you to LA? Please share your journey with us. I feel like I was led here by God for multiple reasons. I definitely think moving to Los Angeles gave me the freedom to heal from past traumas, create a stable life I’ve always dreamed of and to grow in my gifts on and off camera. Since being here, I’ve been exposed to the impossible and it encourages me to have crazy faith when I’m dreaming, creating + talking to God!

Who is your biggest inspiration/ role model?

At the moment, it’s Ijeoma Kola, Tika Sumpter and Issa Rae! These ladies are BOMB Black women killing it in the Entrepreneur, Academia, and Television/Media world! I look up to them from their personalities, perspectives to the content they create!

Do you see yourself staying on the West Coast or is your heart stuck on the East Coast?

I love the West coast and would like to stay here! I have love for the East coast but definitely can’t see myself in New Jersey with where my career is headed. In the future, I would like to have a house in NJ, Atlanta and Los Angeles so I can travel when needed to see my friends and family and not be limited to one location.

What was one of the most unforgettable opportunities you’ve had thus far in the entertainment industry? ( Celebrity you met, Opportunity you had, Job you booked...) I was on set for TWENTIES by Lena Waithe and Jennifer Lewis comes to sit next to me and says “Didn’t I win a grammy with you?” LOL how nervous, shocked and excited I was. I smiled and responded “Not yet!” Lol, I think she thought I was Tika Sumpter! We had a great conversation and she inspired me to be all that I aspire to be!

and she inspired me to be all that I aspire to be!

Tell us about Essentials By Asa? Essentials by Asa is a purpose driven brand agency for starter creatives who need help mapping out their creative ideas and launching their brand! It’s also an online store for Faith-based merch like shirts, crewnecks, journals and soon we’ll have candles, pillows and more!

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? Hmm...I’ve been doing my best to embrace and live in the present more but in 5 years I would love to be married with a few homes, an office for Essentials by Asa and working on camera actively with Brands to promote Mental Health and Wellness for people who experienced childhood trauma. I also would love to be excelling in my acting and hosting career with a few books on top shelves in Barnes and Noble!

What is your ultimate dream job? Working for myself, traveling while informing and inspiring people to live a lifestyle that promotes mental health, financial freedom and well being through my personal brand.

What’s next for your career? Any projects coming up we should be on the lookout for?

Yesss, I can’t say much due to contractual agreements but I can say stay tuned for 2021!! Follow me on Instagram @iamasadugger and turn those post notifications, ON!!!! You don’t want to miss out!

Describe your dream date? Being in Santorini, Greece in a flowy yellow dress on a beautiful sunny day with the view of the blue sea and white infrastructure, eating authentic seafood from Greece!

Coffee or Tea? COFFEE & JESUS BABYYYYYY

Favorite places you’ve traveled? & Dream vacation destination? My favorite places I’ve traveled were Hong Kong, San Francisco, Bahamas and India! I want to go to Paris and Greece!

Favorite type of food? Spicy Old Bay SEAFOOD!!!! I also love Soul Food!

Favorite movie and why? Lol, I have so many!!! I have to say...Diary of a Mad Black Woman by Tyler Perry. I feel like the movie outlined what it feels like to be a Black woman in multiple aspects in life while also demonstrating how resilient we are. I know the movie, word from word from the pain and laughter! It taught me a lot, including what to not take from a man and how to carry myself as a Black woman

What’s one item you can’t leave home without besides your phone? My lipgloss!!!!

Describe how you felt when your post went viral on Juneteenth? GIRL. I woke up to a million texts and calls from my friends lol. I woke up screaming and jumping because I totally did not expect for the post to go viral. I actually wasn’t going to post it at first, because I was afraid of the possible backlash I’d get if I messed up explaining the history of Juneteenth. I swallowed

my fears, posted it anyway and here we are 17K+ followers later! (including Ariana Grande being one of them! She’s amazing!)
