The Raddest Girls On The Planet : @LITTLELADYBIRD

Dear Rad Girl,

If you've been following my Diary (blog) over the past 3 years, you are familiar with this segment #theraddestgirlsontheplanet . In this series, I feature Rad Girls that are energetic, ambitious, fun, loving, uber talented, kind and artistic... I search all around social media for the raddest girls on the planet and I've came across some amazing girls I would love to share their stories with you. This month we have Rebecca Lynn literally the ultimate girl crush… Being that I started this company by selling vintage, she speaks to my inner soul and vintage maven!! She’s one of our fav’s on insta!!!

My name is Rebecca - I am an avid lover of the past, oddities, horror films, true crime & like to think I’m living in a mid century Wes Anderson palette. I live outside of Philadelphia in a 1950s cape cod with my fiancé and our two cats...Nucky and Whitman.

*What are your favorite places to shop?

Majority of my wardrobe is true vintage from the 1920s-1950s although my favorite era is the 1940s. My favorite place to shop would have to be Etsy since it pulls up such a curated selection- you can find essentially anything. Instagram has become such a great place to shop vintage as well and many sellers choose to use the platform exclusively, selling through direct messages. My favorite modern brands are Anthropologie, Trashy Diva, Freddie’s of Pinewood & Zara. I love to shop vintage inspired brands that pull their pieces from authentic patterns and photos!

*What is your occupation or dream job?

I am definitely working a dream job currently, I’m a visual merchandising manager for Anthropologie at a large format store. It was my goal to be in that role as soon as I started and worked my way up with the brand and love what I get to do. I’ve been with them for 7 years and absolutely adore getting to be creative and work with such talented people. The displays and merchandising are constantly ever changing and are so inspiring - it’s really wonderful to get to be a part of it. My dream for later is to definitely have a business of my own!

*We love your vintage Instagram page Aesthetic! What/ Who inspires your style? Any tips on how to take the perfect picture?

Thank you so much! I’m inspired by so many people, including ladies in the vintage community I feel so lucky to have found on Instagram. Scrolling through my feed and getting to see so many lovely women with a likeminded sense of “vintage fashion not vintage values” is refreshing. I look to Rita Hayworth, Gene Tierney, Veronica Lake, Eartha Kitt, Carmen Miranda & Betty Grable for fashion inspiration (just to name a few!) I also really love looking at vintage photographs to get a better sense of casual wear, hairstyles and evening wear alike - it feels so much more real and genuine when you’re looking at a candid photo as opposed to a staged glamour shot.

For taking the perfect picture- make sure your lighting is right! But most importantly make sure you feel confident in what you are wearing and know that you are beautiful just the way you are. The best photos are the ones that radiate self love.

*Starbucks or Dunkin?

Starbucks! Although I do have a Dunkin’ down the street from me that I frequent often. As David Lynch would say, bad coffee is better than no coffee at all.

*Dream vacation destination?

My current dream destination would have to be Greece and Italy - it’s where my fiancé and I are planning to honeymoon!

*All time favorite movie and why?

My all time favorite movie would have to be Pulp Fiction. Aside from a stellar cast, I love the script and the way the sequence of events happens. It’s a movie that makes you think, makes you laugh...All while being filmed beautifully. Quentin Tarantino has such an incredible aesthetic with all of his films and not to mention, the soundtrack is incredible. It was the first CD I had in my first car!

*Whats your MUST HAVE staple item? (purse, shades, red lip, the perfect shoe, accessories)

My must have item would have to be a red lip. I don’t feel “me” without it! I typically carry a scarf just in case my hair becomes disheveled and a pair of vintage sunnies.

*Any dating tips? Or describe the ideal date for you!

It might sound cliche...But, fall in love with your best friend. My fiancé and I were nothing more than friends in the very beginning and learned the deepest things about one another without feeling the need to impress or disappoint. Our relationship was built on honestly and humility from the very beginning. Also, if you can’t laugh together - don’t even bother.

*Favorite Dear Laney piece or accessory?

My favorite Dear Laney piece is the Brill jumpsuit! I can’t get enough of the color palette and the print. It’s such a great transition piece for fall and has a flattering silhouette for every body.

*What does it mean to you to be the Raddest Girl On The Planet?

It means the world to me to be the Raddest Girl on the Planet! It is so humbling to me that my style could be inspiring to others. I know for me when I first started dressing vintage, I took strangers comments and looks on the street to heart. I want everyone to feel confident and comfortable wearing whatever style they please, regardless of any factor. Being a Rad Girl means being myself and not owing anyone an explanation.

Rebecca, you are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your story and giving us some tips! Hopefully we can connect and do a shoot together!!!
