Introduce yourself. Tell us where you’re from (born & raised, education, do you own any pets)Hello!!! My name is Jacqueline Nateè! I was born in Philadelphia but raised mostly in South Jersey. I have no pets at all, I’m actually terrified of cats . I went to private school until middle school then I attended public. In college I went to community & then graduated from Rowan University. Currently enrolled in classes for a Masters in the Art of Teaching.

How did you become a writing teacher, how long have you been teaching? How has the pandemic affected your job? Honestly when it came to teaching I didn’t think I’d really do it. I wanted to be a radio show host or a model. I started substituting & fell in love with helping the youth! I have been teaching for two years now, I will say teaching during the pandemic was never on my list of things to do. However I still find the joy in what I do, as an educator there’s a vibe in the classroom when there’s a misconception. You’re not quite able to feel that vibe virtually so that is the part of my job I miss the most.

What are your goals for 2021?

My goals for this year... I would say to find myself more. To learn that choosing myself is ok & I can’t allow anyone or interfere with it. I want to start some modeling! My biggest goal is my weight loss. I have lost 60lbs in the course of about 1 year & a half.

Share your self love and fitness journey? For me fitness isn’t about being skinny but being healthy both emotionally & physically. In order for me to be happy within, I have to find what makes me happy. I sense a lot of inner peace while I’m working out.

Who inspires you and why? Do you have a role model? I have many role models in a way, I kind of take some from here & there. My biggest inspirations are my mom, grandmom ( may she Rest In Peace)& my sisters. I say this because they all have played such an important part in who I am today. The have all uplifted me when I’m low & love me no matter how silly I act! They support everything I do & always keep me balanced. It’s never a time these women haven’t been there! When it comes to outside of family, my one high school teacher Mrs. Duccase formerly known as Ms. Carty. She has been apart of my life since I was 17, kind of like another mom! Mrs.Duccase supported me in my senior year of high school then through college. No matter how many mistakes I made, she’d tell me this isn’t what I represent then say come on let’s get to work. Which is what I love the most about her!

How did fasting change your life? What were some of the meals you ate during the Daniel Fast? In the month of January I decided to try the Daniel Fast. This is 21 days of no meat, sugar, processed food or any thing outside of fruits, vegetables, nuts & water. I won’t lie the first 3 days were the hardest however once I past them it became easier. My favorite meal during my fast was vegan spaghetti & vegan curry! I could eat them daily! For me it was more of a spiritual journey however I did lose about 25lbs. I learned discipline & the importance of prayer. These are two important keys to making sure I live a healthy life.

Do you journal? If so, in what ways is journaling beneficial for your mental health? Also journaling became apart of my daily routine. Being able to get your thoughts out can be very helpful for your mental health. I believe we sometimes think negative things, I feed it with positive but also write the positive so I can see it. This has helped me grow a better mindset !

Random fun fact about yourself?Random fact I really think I can rap & will try to come up with these bars that are nonexistent.

Biggest accomplishment thus far? My biggest accomplishment is becoming a teacher, for me it’s being able to touch the lives of the youth & spark their flame for success.

Favorite places to shop? My favorite store is Target because I always find a sale even when I’m not looking for one!

Favorite movie? My favorite movie is anything with Madea because I love her, inside I think I’m like Madea Jr if that could be possible.

Favorite food? My favorite food is tacos especially crunch ones, there’s ways to make healthy tacos.

Dream travel destination? My dream destination would be Santorini, Greece because I love the views & the water is breath taking!

Dress or pants? If I could wear a piece of clothing it would be pants, especially if they’re wide legged.

Coffee or Tea? My go to is tea!

What’s the best advice someone’s ever given to you? The best advice I have ever received is never be ashamed of choosing you because at your lowest moments that’s the only thing that you’ll have !

Favorite Dear Laney piece? Dear Laney has so many cute pieces my favorite would be the Melanie jumpsuit. Comfortable & dressy, you can match it with the jewelry & heels or a pair of loafers!
